Professional Activities:
Mr. Borsos was the second nominee for the Rhodes Scholar in Western Michigan University’s history. Mr. Borsos is an “AV” rated attorney which is the highest rating given by Martindale-Hubbell. He is the president of the firm and one of its most senior shareholders.
- Has held Series 6 and 7 Security Licenses, and was a Registered Investment Advisor.
- Extensive experience in bankruptcy, business and estate planning.
- Negotiated merger of Midwest Paper Converting Companies.
- Negotiated sale and close on a Michigan community bank.
- Negotiated leverage buy out of Midwest company with international suppliers, investors and market.
- Negotiated and settled partition suit for Lake Michigan property.
- Represents numerous banks and businesses in workout of troubled loans or accounts and loan documentation.
- Experienced with restructuring troubled companies in and outside of Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code and has handled a number of large tax workouts involving offers in compromise with the IRS and the State of Michigan.
- Counsels family business owners and farmers about wealth preservation, transition planning and estate planning.
- Served as a Receiver for a golf course in which he supervised the staff, accounting and financial functions and marketing of the course.
- Served as a director on the board of a local bank.
- Lectures frequently on business topics ranging from fraud prevention to transition planning. He was a lecturer at the American Bar Association Section of Business Law 1994 spring meeting in Washington, D.C. and he has lectured for the National Business Institute on Creditor Rights and many local business groups.
Mr. Borsos is very active in numerous community organizations. He has been elected to serve a three-year term on the Kalamazoo County Bar Association Board of Directors. He is the past president of the Portage Rotary Club, past chairman of the Kalamazoo County Chamber of Commerce and has served as a board member for Kalamazoo Communities in Schools, Education for Employment, and the Portage Community Center. Mr. Borsos also helped form Portage City on the Grow, the local Susan G. Komen Chapter and Friends of the Portage Senior Center, and has been called upon by the United Way, Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency, and other local charities to help with fund raising and tax initiative.
