Kreis Enderle Attorney Coaches Kalamazoo Central to Second Straight Mock Trial Title

Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Central High School varsity mock trial team won their second consecutive state championship on Saturday, March 25, with Kreis Enderle attorney, Nick Spigiel, as an attorney coach.

This was the 21st state championship for Kalamazoo Central, and they have made more appearances in the national championship than any other high school in the nation. Their championship win came against a team from Ann Arbor Community High School.

Kalamazoo Central also won the state title last year, with Spigiel serving as an attorney coach. This is his fourth year as an attorney coach for Kalamazoo Central.

“The students put in a lot of hard work practicing 3-4 days a week for about five months,” Spigiel said. “So, it feels good to have that effort validated with the win.”

There were six students on the championship team. Kalamazoo Central also had a second team with seven students. That team was defeated by the championship team in the regional competition.

Kalamazoo Central’s varsity team will now represent the state of Michigan in the National High School Mock Trial Championship May 11-13 in Hartford, Connecticut.

Spigiel graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in political science before receiving his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School. His main practice areas include civil litigation, real estate and contract disputes.
