Kreis Enderle Partners with Old National Bank to Support Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes
Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes calls itself a “Food Bank Plus,” a fitting description for the services it provides to the community, and Kreis Enderle is proud to support its mission.
On October 2, 2019, Kreis Enderle and Old National Bank hosted a mixer at Loaves & Fishes and invited clients, colleagues, family, and friends to bring non-perishable food items to donate in support of Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes’ Grocery Pantry Program.
Started nearly 40 years ago by several congregations in downtown Kalamazoo, Loaves & Fishes now provides food assistance to an average of 700 people of all faiths every day. The community organization accepts food donations, and purchases goods using its “pennies-on-the-pound purchasing power.” It then distributes food via five food programs and 77 distribution sites across Kalamazoo County.
According to Loaves & Fishes:
- One in six people and one in five children struggle with hunger each day in Kalamazoo County.
- Nearly 40,000 people cannot keep up with the cost of living in the county due to unemployment or underemployment.
- Forty percent of the people served by the Loaves & Fishes Grocery Pantry Program are under the age of 18.
- With just one dollar, Loaves & Fishes can provide a person struggling with hunger with three meals of nutritionally-balanced food.
Our thanks to Old National Bank for co-hosting and to Gorilla Gourmet for catering the event. For more information about how you can donate to Loaves & Fishes, volunteer your time, and keep its shelves full, please visit the “Give Help” page on its website.
