Business Transactional & Estate Planning Associate Attorney – Portage

An excellent opportunity for a highly motivated Associate Attorney at a West Michigan based law firm.  Our Portage office seeks a Business Transactional & Estate Planning Associate Attorney with 6+ years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting/review and general corporate advising.  The right candidate will also have experience and interest in assisting our clients with estate planning and providing strategic solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and negotiate various transactional documentation, including purchase and sale agreements, loan document, joint venture agreement, shareholder agreements, and operating agreements.
  • Manage and develop a business and transactional practice in the Kalamazoo/Portage market.
  • Interpret and provide guidance on laws, rulings and regulations governing businesses.
  • Stay apprised of legal and regulatory developments affecting business clients.
  • Assist clients in drafting and implementing legal documents.
  • Assist clients in determining the specific distribution of their estate.
  • Advise clients about retirement plans, life insurance policies and charitable contributions.

Requirements:

  • Excellent diplomacy, academic credentials and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and strategic thinking skills.
  • Analytical ability and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a large volume of concurrent priorities.
  • Computer skills.
  • J.D., licensed to practice in Michigan.
