A veteran practitioner, senior statesman, and past president of the firm, Robert (Bob) Borsos focuses his practice on business succession and estate planning. Listed among Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent attorneys, the highest achievable ranking, Bob’s practice is broad and deep and includes business law, insolvency and banking, estate and wealth planning, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, and tax law. Regardless of the complexity of the task at hand, Bob has proven time and again his ability to navigate businesses, individuals, and families through the planning process to the next generation.

Clients and colleagues alike appreciate that Bob is personally invested in achieving their financial goals and visions for their businesses, assets, and families. A smart counselor who is practical, responsive, and a “people person” by nature, Bob goes the distance to ensure each client’s needs are properly addressed and that the legal counsel provided is not only of the highest quality, but also useful and customized to the client and delivered in a timely manner. Organized and efficient, everyone around Bob knows he will provide actionable solutions to their problems while also preserving constituent relationships to ensure future opportunities.

A mentor to firm attorneys practicing at all levels, Bob is sought for his honed skill in working with new and existing clients, for his ability to establish synergy when creating client teams that achieve tangible results, and for his institutional know-how for leveraging the resources of the firm’s collective legal acumen. Among the firm’s most successful attorneys over decades of practice, Bob works diligently with up-and-coming attorneys to develop their acuity in the art of addressing, meeting, and exceeding client requirements across all practice areas.

In addition to working with business and individual clients, Bob is also experienced in representing banks and other institutional clients and commercial entities involved in insolvency events, including the workout of troubled loans or accounts and loan documentation. He has restructured troubled companies in and outside of Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code and handled multiple large tax workouts involving offers in compromise with the IRS and the State of Michigan. Notably, Bob has held Series 6 and Series 7 security licenses and was certified as a Registered Investment Advisor. He also served as a director on the board of a local bank.In 2015, Bob was awarded the Outstanding Alumni Award from Western Michigan University’s Carl & Winifred Lee Honors College. In 2005, Bob received the Portage Rotary Club Community Service Award. Currently, Bob is chairman for Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Michigan and served as a past chairman of the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo.
