Kreis Enderle Gives Back Helps Strengthen Community Ties Through the Power of Music
Ella Fitzgerald, famed American jazz singer and the “First Lady of Song,” once said, “Music is the universal language… it brings people closer together.”
At Kreis Enderle, we couldn’t agree more. Music is the connective language of the soul. One that draws communities together and unites us as members of the collective human family. That’s why this Kreis Enderle Gives Back is proud to support the Brass Band of Battle Creek (BBBC) in its annual spring fundraiser, where our own Kay Kossen is a member of its Board of Directors.
The band’s spring fundraising event will be held at the Battle Creek Country Club on Saturday, May 11th, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tickets include hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and jazz entertainment featuring some of the band’s most talented musicians. The evening’s proceeds will go toward helping the group continue its mission of “bringing joy, understanding, and inspiration through the power of music.” The BBBC also invites you to attend its annual spring concert on May 18th, a spectacular musical event highlighting the Battle Creek Executive Airport’s 100th anniversary.
For over twenty-five years, the Brass Band of Battle Creek has used music to unite the community. From humble beginnings, this “Rolls-Royce” of brass bands now boasts some of the finest musicians and percussionists from around the world. Featuring a wide repertoire of musical styles—including swanky jazz rhythms, pop hits, and orchestral classics—the BBBC never fails to ‘wow’ and is passionate about giving back to the community it loves.
With support from local schools and volunteers, the BBBC offers a wide range of educational programs to inspire the next generation of young musicians and help them develop their talents. Along with regular youth band camps, the group also hosts an annual Young People’s Concert, where students are invited to the W.K. Kellogg Auditorium to interact with the musicians, play on stage and experience the BBBC live.
Kay Kossen serves as a member of the brass band’s Board of Directors. A managing partner at Kreis Enderle, she specializes in real estate, estate planning, elder law, and probate. Recently nominated as one of 2024’s “Notable Women in the Law,” Kay is well-known for her thoughtful judgment and “lead by example” mentality. She is a valued member of our team and the community, and we are proud to support her efforts in expanding the mission of the Brass Band of Battle Creek.
