Michigan Lawyers Weekly Honors Jim Lance as One of 2019’s “Leaders in the Law”

We are delighted to announce that shareholder Jim Lance was named to the 2019 class of Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s “Leaders in the Law!” He formally received the honor at an award ceremony on April 18, 2019.

Jim has a remarkable story that begins in Vietnam in 1973 when an American soldier found a three-month-old boy lying along the roadside. Jim was that child, whose life was forever changed when an American family adopted him, setting him on a path that now includes a successful legal career, public service, and a drive to give back to the community.

At Kreis Enderle, Jim is a general practice attorney, handling all types of civil matters, including probate, estate planning, elder law, real estate, and business law. When litigation is required, he is a staunch advocate who stands in his client’s corner every step of the way.

Jim is active in various law-related organizations, including the State Bar of Michigan, the Calhoun County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Outside the practice, he is a Board member of the Battle Creek Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Board of Review for the City of Battle Creek, and an energetic supporter of  Mid-Michigan Junior Achievement, Battle Creek Area Boys and Girls Club, Battle Creek Rotary, and United Way of Battle Creek. In July 2018, Jim accepted an appointment to serve as a Battle Creek City Commissioner, representing Ward 5.

Besides “Leaders in the Law,” Jim has other awards to his credit. In 2017, he received the “Joe D. Sutton Call to Justice Award” from Elder Law of Michigan, which recognizes those who advocate for, educate, and assist persons in need, focusing on older adults and individuals with disabilities. And in 2016, Jim was honored at the “First Annual Prevention Heroes Award Ceremony” by the Calhoun County Elder Abuse Prevention Coalition for his efforts to find remedies to prevent financial exploitation of elder abuse victims.
